They call me The Sound Doctor

Hello! My name is Rick Gordon, and people call me the Sound Doctor.  How did I become The Sound Doctor, dedicated to providing the best live-sound and multitrack recording solutions for to event planners, entrepreneurs, and professional musicians?   Well, I guess you could say it is in my blood.

From my earliest years, I can remember the sound of my dad playing the piano in our living room.  He was a highly-respected piano teacher in Hollywood, California, who was known as the “Piano Teacher to the Stars”. My mother also sang for many years with the Los Angeles Metropolitan Light Opera Company.

So, it was only natural that I started playing music too. I learned to play a bit of piano, sing, play guitar, harmonica, mandolin, banjo, drums...pretty much whatever I could get my hands on. Then, over 20 years ago, in one of the bands I regularly played in, I fell into doing live sound for our gigs out of necessity. It came as a total shock to me that I loved doing sound even more than performing, and that many other musicians quickly came calling asking if I could provide live sound support for them.     That was when the Sound Doctor officially was born, although the title came later over my 22+ years doing live sound since- as an affectionate expression of my client's experience of my work.

In the heightened environment of performance, I love solving moment-to-moment challenges, so what you hear is seamless. I'm not thrown by last minute details that are thrown my way, and I love putting a meticulous ear on your event's sound, so the only thing your audience is thinking about is not the sound, but the emotional impact of your music.

You can hire any sound guy, but there is only one Sound Doctor.
